Ms. Casipe grew up as an advocate and a lover of life. As a biologist, her passion is environmental education with emphasis on interconnectedness, and collecting scientific information to address environmental and socio-economic problems. Currently, she works as a research assistant for the conservation and management of the critically endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. She has also facilitated various Marine and Terrestrial PA management planning trainings and workshops. In 2015, she was chosen as one of the JST Sakura Student Exchange Program in Science scholars in Tokyo Metropolitan University and was invited as a panelist in an Environmental Symposium on the Symbiosis of Forests, Humans, and Seas in Tokyo in 2016. Ms. Dalabajan studies Social Anthropology at the University of the Philippines. She volunteered at different local and international organizations such as Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and Youth for Sustainable Development Assembly (YSDA), which focused on increasing environmental awareness across different demographics in the Philippines. At seventeen years old, she published her first article on environmentalism and climate change, and since has been invited to write for non-governmental organization programs on climate resiliency and disaster risk reduction. She believes that a flawed flood production system is a large contributor to our changing environment and must be addressed appropriately.

She believes in genuine community-centered conservation initiatives and hopes that through YSEALI, she can further her understanding in environmental leadership and cultural diversity.

Mr. Piseth Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Water Resources and Rural Infrastructure from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia in 2013. He continued his Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia. Mr. Piseth then went on to join the DAAD summer school on Water and Health in Urban Systems in Germany in late 2015. Mr. Piseth is passionate about Water and Environment, so he became involved by volunteering for WISE organization for WASH projects in Cambodia since late 2015. He currently co-facilitates the Sanitation in Challenging Environments (SCE) project with EWB Australia based in Phnom Penh. Mr. Piseth hopes to broaden his knowledge in environmental issues and discuss solutions being implemented in the States and ASEAN nations in order to bring it back to better lead the SCE project to another level.

Through YSEALI, he hopes to develop his foundation and marine mechanics technology company. His profits will be allocated to run several coastal community development programs for the purpose of coastal marine conservation.

Mr. Putra graduated from Muhammadiyah Health Science Institute of Samarinda in 2012. He is the head of Research and HRD Department at Indonesian Association of Environmental Health of East Kalimantan and CEO of Sahabat Bumi Kaltim (Earth Friends of East Kalimantan). This community aims to educate youth and raise environmental awareness. It will also prepare the youth to become future leaders with an eco-friendly paradigm. He aims to become a national trainer and design eco-leadership trainings in Indonesia.

He is experienced in conducting comparative study of environmental laws and its impact towards the communities in Malaysia. Through YSEALI, he hopes to work with non-governmental organizations to create awareness through green policy for a better environment in the future.

It was a turning point in her life when she realized the significance of wildlife conservation. During YSEALI, she hopes to create a strong connection between international youth leaders and collaborate together to tackle environmental issues that everyone will implement in their communities. She believes that all hands are needed to make changes in the world.

When Mr. Sukpholtham was President of the environment conservation club of his university, he and his friends held many environmental camps in debating areas to raise environmental awareness among the youth. Due to his passion for the ocean, he plans to pursue an ocean engineering degree in graduate study. After graduation, he dreams to develop technology for oceanographic research in Thailand in order to establish sustainable management of marine resource. Joining YSAELI, he aims to gain new perspectives from different angles on how people can change environmental impacts on a structural level. In his spare time, he loves to play guitar, go camping, scuba diving, and appreciate nature.

Khine Mon THANT (Grace)
Master of Environmental Management and Technology, Mahidol University, Burma
Ms. Thant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry with honors and a post-graduate diploma in Social Work. She is currently working on her Master’s degree on Environmental Management and Technology at Mahidol University through the Mahidol-Norway Capacity Building Initiative Award (2015). She is learning the ins and outs of water and waste management, and researching assessment on water and sediment quality in Yangon. What she hopes to learn from the program is to learn innovative and colorful ideas, and be able to bring the best to our nature and beings.

Ms. Thant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry with honors and a post-graduate diploma in Social Work. She is currently working on her Master’s degree on Environmental Management and Technology at Mahidol University through the Mahidol-Norway Capacity Building Initiative Award (2015). She is learning the ins and outs of water and waste management, and researching assessment on water and sediment quality in Yangon. What she hopes to learn from the program is to learn innovative and colorful ideas, and be able to bring the best to our nature and beings.

Ms. Uttarotai holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Microbiology at Chiang Mai University. Her main interests are creating an efficient way to prevent global warming and finding ways to manage the environment to improve the quality of people’s lives in Thailand. By participating in YSEALI, she hopes to connect with people around the world to share an opinion and raise a better future of our world's resources. She also aims to gain knowledge from the program and return to her country with a project that can solve the environmental problem.
