
Fatin Nabilah ABD RAZAK
Ms. Fatin Razak is a researcher currently working on a tiger conservation project with Wildlife Conservation Society Malaysia. Her work focuses mainly on biological monitoring through camera trapping as well as educating the youth on current environmental issues, especially concerning wildlife conservation. She pursued her degree in Zoology at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak where her passion towards nature intensified. She hopes that through YSEALI she would create strong networks among the youth leaders and gain new standpoints about global environmental issues. She also hopes to put the experience and knowledge that she has gained into educating the local communities and younger generation on environmental conservation.

Angel Allyne “Ey” ABELLANA
Angel Abellana is an advocate of various causes including peace, equality and most importantly, the environment. A graduate of Geodetic Engineering in the University of Southeastern Philippines, she is trying to connect her field in STEM with conservation. She is currently the Founder and Director of Bring Back the Color, a multi-sector program designed to promote sustainability through awareness, networking and creative solutions. She is an Ambassador to the Philippines of the UNEP EcoTunza Generation, a CIMB young ASEAN Leader and former Youth Ambassador of Goodwill to Japan for Peace-building. She is a fan of the ocean, kindness, and culture. Currently she is working with different marginalized communities and over a hundred young people in Davao. Angel wants to learn and be inspired by the Fellowship to create more global solutions for local problems. Angel believes in changing the world, one cause at a time.

Robby Binsar BUTAR BUTAR
Mr. Robby is a fourth year student at Jenderal Soedirman University, Indonesia, studying about agrotechnology and currently doing research about molecular biology. He hopes that through YSEALI he can broaden his network of amazing young people throughout the world and learn to improve skills and knowledge in order to tackle the waste problem.

Mr. Do is currently a senior student at the Foreign Trade University, majoring in International Business Administration. From his first days in college, he has defined himself as a young leader in a variety of social activities, especially ones tackling environmental issues such as 2014 SJ Vietnam International Work-Camp in Can Gio Mangrove Forest and 2017 Vietnam Climate Leadership Camp. Through those experiences and his academic background, he has developed a great inclination for sustainable development in enterprises. Participating in YSEALI, he hopes to gain new knowledge and practical experiences in order to apply those to create significant changes in his home country.

Aye Chan HEIN
Aye Chan Hein is a recent graduate from the University of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Yezin, Nay Pyi Taw. He is also involved in social programs, such as volunteering in libraries, English Language Competitions and other programs. Mr. Aye Chan is an enthusiastic youth with high volunteering spirits, as he currently holds certificates of appreciation for volunteering from the late President of Myanmar, from the British Council, from his university and groups of ethnic minorities. Since he is a youth who belongs to an ethnic clan of the Innthar Tribe inhabiting Inle Lake, he considers himself to have full responsibility to fight the threat of the biggest environmental issues of Inle Lake, as well as of his country. He is looking forward to cooperating with other youths from different countries, backgrounds, and with different views and perspectives. He is a youth with a very big dream to become a famous environmentalist in the future. The knowledge and lessons from this program would help him not only to come up with better plans and recognize reasonable factors, but also to consider the experiences, knowledge and information he has gained through this program in seeking his dream.

Ms. Lucia received her Bachelor degree in Biology at the University of Indonesia. During her final year in college, she worked part-time as the Social Media Executive for ScubaDiver Australasia Ocean Planet Magazine Indonesian Edition. In 2015, she was selected for the MantaWatch Internship Programme, a professional development program for young Indonesian conservationists and marine leaders. In July 2017, Ms. Lucia joined MantaWatch as a Sustainable Tourism Assistant working in Komodo National Park. Through those experiences, she got the opportunity to connect the dots between marine tourism and marine conservation, as well as work with decision-makers to develop management strategies that will deliver sustainable benefits to the environment, communities, and local economies. Through the YSEALI program, Ms. Lucia hopes to learn about sustainable tourism planning and implementation and share the experiences with stakeholders in Indonesia, including within her current role in Komodo National Park.

Nesha Kannama ICHIDA
Ms. Nesha is currently in her final year of BSc, obtaining her Natural Science degree from The Open University UK. Her degree is completely online, which has allowed her to do volunteer and internship work to gain more field experience over the past 3 years. She is currently working as a Marine Conservation Field Officer under Indonesian Manta Project in Rote Island, focusing on monitoring manta rays and whale sharks, along with educating local stakeholders on managing the surrounding MPAs and sustainable fisheries. Ms. Nesha is also part of the founding members of a youth initiative on marine debris called Divers Clean Action, which focuses on underwater clean ups and waste management on small islands. Through the YSEALI institute, she hopes to gain more experience in natural resource management and sustainable development, along with increasing her leadership skills in the field.

Moreover, he is serving as co-organizer of Civic Society Initiative. He is especially passionate about disaster risk management. He hopes that he will get an opportunity to broaden his horizons and vision through the YSEALI program. Most importantly, he will apply the knowledge and experience that he gains from the program to serve a better purpose to the environment.

MJ grew up in the forest and only got to see the ocean once every summer. MJ decided to take the degree with only her passion in learning about and seeing marine creatures, serving as her inspiration. She is now working in the Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines, a non- profit organization dedicated to the conservation of marine mega fauna and the marine environment in the Philippines. MJ lead a team of researchers studying the population abundance of sea turtle in one of the first community based MPA in the Philippines. By joining YSEALI, she aims to improve her leadership and communication skills to encourage and influence youth about conservation. She also hopes to learn new community approaches to introduce sustainable practices.

As an aspiring Tri-sector Athlete who endeavors to uphold social and environmental justice, he has initiated projects that involve a wide range of beneficiary groups and causes. Through this program, he hopes to expand his capacity as a change-maker, gain insights to environmental sustainability issues and join a community with like-minded youth that are striving to make this world a better place.

Ms. Luber works for WWF-Philippines as the Integrated Marketing Communications Specialist of The Sustainable Diner, a sustainable consumption and production project focused on the local dining industry. She was a graduate of Save Philippine Seas' SEA Camp program, where she was awarded grant funding by YSEALI and the US Embassy Manila for #ScreenYourSunscreen - a movement aiming to spread awareness on the harmful effects of commercial sunscreen on marine biodiversity. Through this fellowship, she wants to spread the concept of "Commservation", or Communications Conservation, which works to bring back the heart in science through meaningful interaction and a deeper understanding of human behavior in order to effectively educate people on the benefits of environmental protection.

He thinks that the youth today, who are also the future leaders of tomorrow, should not underestimate their own power because it can change the world to a better place to stay. He hopes that by joining YSEALI it can help him enhance his skills in order to bring more impact to the community.

Tan Thanh Nguyen
Ms. Tan received her bachelor training from Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and plans to pursue higher education in Climate Change to solve the isuses it causes in her country of Vietnam. Ms. Tan started her career in the Department of Life Science as a lecturer in Environmental Management Sustainability. Since she was in University, she was always a dynamic student who also participated in The Vietnam YSEALI Workshop: Youth in Action. She is the founder of the Young Leaders Club, running series of volunteer programs on environment in the province such as making composts from agricultural waste, and Clean Water for Hmong People. Through YSEALI, she wishes to expand her network, strengthen her leadership skills, and enrich her knowledge on Environmental Science and Management Field.

Mr. Tuan holds a strong passion in mitigating the impact of economic development to the ecosystem, climate, fauna, and flora system. His approach is leveraging what he learned in business school to commercialize the inventions and products which solve the environmental issues. He is supporting a project which produces handmade wind turbines from plastic buckets and recycled electrical components called Red Bucket Wind Turbines. The project has brought free and adequate lighting to 28 mountainous households and won 1st prize in The US Ambassador’s Entrepreneurship Challenge. By attending the EWC YSEALI Academic Fellowship, he would love to explore more environment-friendly technology and innovation and join hands to multiply the positive impact of these inventions on the environment.

Atteleth “Don” PERIS
Don is currently working on completing his research master related to coastal hydrodynamics and mangrove ecology in University Malaysia Terengganu. By joining science communication programs like the FameLab Malaysia 2017, scientific seminars and meetings, he wants to continue to convey scientific findings and build the public’s awareness towards the current environmental issues we face. Don hopes that this program would make him more aware as well as being qualified to be part of a team that solves some of the environmental issues in Malaysia. He focuses on building a sustainable future that benefits everyone environmentally, economically and socially.

Ms. Noer is a third year student of the English Department at IAIN Palangka Raya. In her spare time, she often participates in the Flora Fauna Foundation Central Kalimantan. In 2015, she was selected for the BOS (Borneo Orang Utan Survival) internship program. She got this precious opportunity because she was the founder of the youth organization, Greeneration. In July 2017, she joined Flora Fauna Foundation to save the rare orchid and peat lands conservation. In August 2017, she was selected for the delegation of Central Kalimantan to join the Hutan Itu Indonesia program. Through the YSEALI program, she hopes that she can learn more about sustainable tourism planning and implementation to create creative ways to deal with the environmental issues that occur.

Ms. Napas spent a lot of her time in the ocean to receive her degree of Biological Sciences from Mahidol University International College with her project on non-cryptic fish species diversity and abundance in correlation with coral abundance and anthropogenic disturbance. She is now working towards sustainability and conservation as an Education & Outreach Coordinator / Creative for Love Wildlife Foundation, a field research assistant for various marine biology, environment, ecology, sustainable development courses, and a freelance animal illustrator. She is here in the U.S. for the first time to pursue her thirst of how the other side of the world is going. She is extremely passionate about animals and will dedicate her knowledge to make a change for the environment for her ultimate goal: the better-being of wildlife and their home.

In his academic studies, Sineang was nominated to be a representative alumnus who stands for inbound and outbound studies, and was a Project Assistant who is in charge of field experiment and laboratory tasks of a Korean Project. He was also a Gold Winner of National Essay Award on “How to promote Cambodia to the World”. In 2016, he participated in a Tag-aims Program in Japan in which he could involve many diverse learning, workshops, and conferences related to environmental studies. In addition, Sineang also took part of Syngenta Connection in Vietnam and Thailand pitching new innovative ideas and current environmental challenges happening in Asian countries. Currently, he is implementing a Project of Sustainable Agriculture and Practices in Kompong Cham and Krite Province aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices, environmental awareness and concerns, and organic products within the country. Passionate about joining YSEALI, he hopes that this fellowship will offer more knowledge on environmental issues and concrete leadership skills for future learning and career.

Thipphaphone “Ling” SOUPHIDA
Ms. Thipphaphone graduated from the National University of Laos with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management in 2014. She is currently working with the Samdhana Institute as a Project Finance and Administration Assistant for two projects, the Small Grant Project and the Learning and Media Network (LMN) Projects in Laos. By participating in YSEALI she would like to learn by doing, specifically focusing on leadership skills within the fields of sustainable developments, natural resources management, and improving communities’ livelihood through various income generation activities. Culture is another topic in which she is interested, and she is curious to see if peace can be achieved when so many different cultures come together. Ms. Thipphaphone believes YSEALI will be a platform where young leadership from different countries will be brought together to produce a creative future.

Ms. Thipphaphone graduated from the National University of Laos with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management in 2014. She is currently working with the Samdhana Institute as a Project Finance and Administration Assistant for two projects, the Small Grant Project and the Learning and Media Network (LMN) Projects in Laos. Natthanicha “Pugwan” SUYAWIN
Ms. Nattanicha is currently studying Marine Technology at Burapha University Chanthaburi campus. She is interested about the sea because it is a large food and energy resource of the world. Recently she had the opportunity to collect garbage around Choa Lao beach, believing this to be a good experience in that it helped her realize her impact with the environment. Through YSEALI she seeks to learn and exchange knowledge, methods, and management skills in order to solve marine environment problems in the United States, all of which she will use to help solve problems in her home country of Thailand.

Ms. Tous graduated with a Bachelor in Agronomy from the University of Management and Economic in Cambodia. Currently she is working in VSO-Cambodia with Improving Market Access for the Poor (IMA4P project) as a project assistant focusing on Value Chain Collaboration with multi-stakeholder on the rice value chain. With YSEALI, Ms. Tous would like to learn more about environment protection, waste and resource management, ecotourism, and social enterprise and how it is used to address environmental issues. Ms. Tous looks to improve her leadership skills that will in turn help her to come up with strategies that can help solve environmental problems.
